Polaroid Experiments- Paola

Friday, March 25, 2011

My eyes are constantly asking for the unusual, neglected,
unseen, hidden and the unexposed aesthetic. Under the
rubble, in construction sites, on the streets and the
back streets. On walls and on floors. Art is everywhere.
And every time I see one there’s sparkle of excitement that
comes with every discovery. The smile in the mind.
My mind is constantly looking to break the rules to see what
happens. What if I looked for answers in mistakes? What if I
look for the right questions rather than the right answers?
Questions like, What if? Why not?

It is imperfections that give life character. It is imperfections,
mistakes and accidents which create originality. Pure, effortless
and uncontrived.

This is my work process. First I have to create the conditions for
the chemistry of aesthetics to unfold and then I have to have the
awareness and agility of mind to recognize its completion and
creation. And what happens in between is spontaneous reactions
to influence the course. eyes are constantly asking for the unusual,
neglected, unseen, hidden and the unexposed aesthetic. Under
the rubble, in construction sites, on the streets and the back streets.
On walls and on floors. Art is everywhere. And every time I see one
there’s sparkle of excitement that comes with every discovery.
The smile in the mind.

Florette Portraits.

Nature's Art. Flowers have faces too. Each unique as ours.
They reach out to tell us that we all belong to one origin.
As in all life, made from the same elements. They remind us
of the beauty and the evolution that is life. That were are all
elements of the evolving intelligence that is creation.
We blossom, we wilt and fade and blossom again.
Nothing dies in reality. Everything transforms.

Munchie's Mask. Through hidden layers.

We can't always see through the many layers hiding feelings and emotions.
We feel safer when we can put on a mask and hide behind it. What if we are
trapped by our masks? What if we did not put them on to stay but they did and now we can't get rid of them. May be should learn to learn to look beyond masks and reach out to others through our own.

Bedouin boy, Al Ain UAE.

There was a time when the Bedouin roamed free in the
deserts before industrialization encroached into their
lands. With the concrete and steel, the old lifestyle
of the Bedu eroded into near extinction. Detached from their neighborhoods
and their own social network as they embraced the unknown.
