Long Term Digital Storage.

The main issue with Digital Vs Film or Analog is not to do with quality or resolution but to do with archiving. Many digital formats have been introduced to the market and have quietly become obsolete. Either due to format discontinuation of the data capture or the player. How many of us would be able to easily access data from a floppy disc for example? Soon VHS tapes will be left without VHS players. What is the future of today's formats?
Many of us currently store our data on External Hard Drives, but did you know that these have a limited shelf life? I have fallen victim to this a couple of times. The safest systems at the moment are Raid grade Hard Drives, offering a better level of security over a longer period of time. Does anyone have a better solution?
